Terms & Conditions for Participants of the "Foundations of UZAZU Embodied Intelligence" Training
Dear Participants,
We warmly welcome you to our three day in-person training for coaches, therapists and other helping professionals. We are excited to introduce you to the Foundations of UZAZU Embodied Intelligence! This in-person, highly experiential training gives you an immersion into a systematic, integrative method for working with your clients’ full range of embodied states.
We know: "terms and conditions" can feel like boring, nit-picky, or not-that-important legal stuff that's often annoying to read. But through our years of giving trainings we've come to really appreciate the value of being aligned around clear expectations. And don't worry, we promise to keep it as light, practical, and to the point as possible!
Please do read this all in advance—knowing what to expect ahead of time can help minimize any potential confusion, frictions, or disappointments down the road.
By participating in this workshop, you are acknowledging and agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
Section 1: Workshop Activities and Content
➤ The Foundations workshop may involve physical and emotional activities that could be challenging or uncomfortable for you at times. While we will do our best to support you in exploring various embodied states in a safe and attuned manner, you are ultimately fully responsible for monitoring and taking care of your own physical and emotional well-being and for communicating any concerns or needs to the trainers.
➤ UZAZU is designed to be accessible to all bodies, whether as a facilitator or a client. We support participants in adapting the exercises and explorations to suit specific needs or limitations. It is up to you to be attuned to and take action regarding your body's safety, health, and comfort. If at any point during the workshop you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, or need help adapting an exercise to your capacities, please inform the trainers or a TA so that they can assist you.
➤ The workshop content is based on the UZAZU Embodied Intelligence framework, which is a holistic, somatic framework for growth and healing. You understand that this framework is not a substitute for medical treatment and does not guarantee any specific results. The workshop is for professional development and educational purposes only. The techniques and methods learned in the workshop are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical conditions.
Section 2: Use of Participant Image and Likeness
➤ The workshop trainers may take photos and videos during the workshop for marketing purposes. By participating in the workshop, you grant the trainers the right to use your image and likeness in group-focused photos and videos. If we wish to use a photo that centrally features you, we will check with you first.
Section 3: Professional Development, Expectations, ‘Fair Usage,’ and Scope of Practice
➤ The Foundations workshop is designed to help you develop your capacity to facilitate integrative change in 1-1 sessions. You understand that the techniques and methods learned in the workshop are not a guarantee of success and that success may depend on a variety of factors, including your level of experience, the client's needs and preferences, and the effectiveness of your facilitation.
➤ While this workshop is open to anyone with experience in working 1:1 with others who is interested in bringing more embodiment and/or state shifting into that process, it is designed specifically for coaches, psychotherapists, somatic therapists, social workers, counselors, or other helping professionals who are experienced in and comfortable working 1-1 with individuals in a professional context.
➤ The Foundations training does not teach you how to be a therapist, bodyworker, or coach. As with any modality, we ask that you use and apply the UZAZU that you learn in this training within the scope of your existing professional training, capacities, and (if applicable) licensure.
➤ Upon completion of this course we welcome you to acknowledge that you are Foundations-level trained in UZAZU Embodied Intelligence. This training does not permit you to refer to yourself as an UZAZU Practitioner or Facilitator, nor to advertise that you practice or provide UZAZU as a modality. For further training and certification opportunities, please visit uzazu.org.
➤ This workshop does not teach you to use UZAZU in leading group experiences. If you want to bring some UZAZU to groups you are already qualified to lead, you may share one or two aspects of UZAZU at a simple level. Please credit UZAZU and refer participants to UZAZU resources as appropriate, and we ask that you do not give out UZAZU handouts if you lead such a group. Please refrain from teaching any complete UZAZU practices or elements. Teaching and Facilitating UZAZU in group formats is something we provide as a follow-up training for Certified Practitioners only.
Section 4: Right to Refuse Admission
➤ We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone who fails to comply with these terms and conditions, or if they are deemed by the trainers to be unsuitable for the workshop. We also reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time, in which case we will refund any registration fees paid.
Section 5: Continuing Education (CE) Credits
➤ This program is approved for 18 CE's by the National Association of Social Workers (Maine Chapter) in the U.S. Other forms of CE credits are not formally offered or applied for at this time. Please note that it is your responsibility to determine whether the continuing education hours offered by UZAZU Foundations Training are acceptable to your licensing or credentialing board.
➤ To receive CE credits, you must attend the entire workshop, sign in and out each day, and complete the online evaluation form, indicating that you wish to receive a CE Certificate. Certificates of completion will be emailed to you within two weeks after the completion of the workshop.
Section 6: Payment and Cancellation Policy
➤ If you cancel before 28 days prior to the workshop you will receive a 50% refund of the total amount. No refunds will be provided for cancellations made after this date. (Please see our Covid policy below for exceptions.)
➤ If you do not attend the training, no money will be refunded. You are welcome to transfer your tuition to someone else who is an appropriate candidate for the workshop up to (but not closer than) 48 hours of the training . Please reach out to us in an email and cc your replacement person.
➤ See the location details page for your specific workshop for any additional hotel or food related cancellation policies.
➤ You are responsible for any losses that you may incur due to cancellation (eg, travel and accommodations). Although we sympathize, we cannot be liable for changes in your personal circumstances.
Section 7: COVID Policy and Recommendations
➤ Masking is not required or expected. The trainers (Dylan and/or Deb) plan to be unmasked, unless they have any recent direct exposure concerns. If for any reasons you would prefer to be masked during some or all of the training, that’s of course very welcome and fully up to you. If you’ve had direct exposure to someone with Covid-19 in the 5 days prior to attending the training, we ask that you please take a rapid test on the day before or morning of the training. If you test positive for Covid-19 before or during the training, we kindly and respectfully ask that you do not attend the training in-person. (See the Covid-19 cancellations policy below.)
➤ Cancellations due to Covid-19: If you are unable to attend due to any of the above Covid-related reasons, we will refund your training fee, minus $175 (or the equivalent amount in amount Euros). Alternately, you can choose to take a credit for a future workshop (online or in person). Although we sympathize, we cannot be liable for losses incurred for hotel or meal cancellations—please refer to your hotel’s cancellation policies on this. If the United States and/or Europe gets hit by another big wave of Covid, and it seems that over 30% of the participants would not be able to come (and/or if it becomes too difficult or risky for Deb and Dylan to travel to the location) we reserve the right to cancel the training entirely. In this case, full training fee refunds will be issued. We cannot be held responsible for any hotel or travel cost losses that may be incurred. (For this reason, we recommend you purchase refundable tickets, in the case of air travel.)
Section 8: Liability and Indemnification
➤ While we will do our best to ensure a safe and supportive environment for the workshop, you understand and acknowledge that your participation in the workshop is at your own risk. You release the trainers and UZAZU Embodied Intelligence LLC from any and all claims, damages, and liabilities arising from or related to your participation in the workshop.
➤ You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the trainers and UZAZU Embodied Intelligence LLC, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates, from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from or related to your participation in the workshop.
Section 9: Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure
➤ The workshop may involve personal and sensitive information shared between participants. You agree to maintain the confidentiality of all participants and their personal information. You agree not to disclose any information about any participant or detailed workshop content without their express written consent.
Section 10: Miscellaneous
➤ These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and UZAZU Embodied Intelligence LLC with respect to your participation in the workshop.
➤ These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state where the workshop is being held.
➤ Any dispute arising from or related to your participation in the workshop shall be resolved through binding arbitration, with each party responsible for their own fees and costs, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
➤ These terms and conditions may only be amended in writing and signed by both parties.
By participating in the UZAZU Foundations Training workshop, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
