After 18 years of evolving this modality, I'm thrilled to share with you this invitation to apply for the second cohort of the 10-month UZAZU Embodied Intelligence Practitioner Training, starting in February, 2021.

So read on below and learn more about this training. And, if it strongly resonates for you, and you meet the requirements, then fill out the application so we can talk personally, discuss any questions you might have, and see if we both feel like it's indeed an excellent mutual fit!
As you’ve already learned—or will learn, when you take the UZAZU Foundations Professional Training—a large part of what makes UZAZU especially empowering & useful for helping professionals is its synergy of having a deeply integrated Model, Metric, and Method.
1) The Model weaves a diverse number of models & methods together into a surprisingly simple, intuitive framework that quickly empowers you AND your clients to better "make sense of it all."
2) The Metric builds on this foundation with an integrative assessment, that you can use with your clients, both as an initial evaluation of “where they’re at,” AND as a highly effective teaching tool that helps you and your client be “on the same page.” This powerful tool is also extremely useful as a way of tracking your clients’ progress.
3) The Method provides easy-to-learn & use embodied change protocols, and highly targeted "micro-practices" clients can take home and work with to further integrate & grow.
As a body-oriented psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of trauma over the past 25 years, I have been impressed by the potency of UZAZU as a catalyst for transformative change. Comprehensive, easy-to-follow, and enjoyable for clients, UZAZU helps me to facilitate changes in therapy sessions that happen quickly and have lasting impact. Over the past few years, I have been applying this powerful modality both as a stand-alone approach to working with clients, and as an integrative tool for bringing together my other skills and ways of working. I highly recommend UZAZU as an effective yet sophisticated mind-follows-body modality for therapists and coaches to add to their toolbox. Actually, you will have a whole new toolbox!
In less than one hour, UZAZU gives my clients the learning and personal growth that otherwise can take months. ….they come out the other side with radical awareness and alignment. It’s a fantastic way to help them gain insight and move through personal challenges.
I’ve been working as a psychotherapist, coach, and business-trainer for 25 years. My knowledge of UZAZU now provides me a powerful foundation that allows me to connect and strengthen the efficiency of all the other methods I use (which includes Constellations, Gestalt Therapy, working with Metaphoric Cards, Body-mind work, etc.) UZAZU is simple and yet very deep and wide at the same time. It allows fast and accurate diagnostics and it supports me to work with different layers and levels (the body-level, belief systems, relationship dynamics, business, etc.) It gave me a valuable set of new tools right from the beginning, while further immersion in this method seems to open up endless fields of new opportunities—including for my own self-growth! I highly recommend UZAZU as a very effective, well-formed system for all kinds of helping professionals.
The UZAZU practitioner certification training is one of the most comprehensive, structured embodiment training courses I have found to date. You can start using the system in its simplest form from day one, and yet, the complexity keeps evolving, allowing for a robust model to help myself and my clients with complex challenges.
This system is so vital, fresh and organic. When you do it, you feel better emotionally, mentally and physically. UZAZU deserves to be studied by anyone with a serious interest in promoting mind-body integration.
I chose to do this certification program to deepen my somatic intelligence skills to complement my Ontological Coaching. I am absolutely blown away by the richness and depth of the approach and the practices that go with it. I see many ways to use this in my practice. To boot, Dylan is a masterful teacher and facilitator, making the program even richer.
Before you can take this intermediate-level training, you must complete the basic-level Foundations Professional Training in any one of the available formats:
In other words, everyone entering this certification training journey must already be familiar with the foundational elements of UZAZU, in both a personal, self-focused and a professional, other-focused capacity.
The best way to truly master a method of embodied change work is of course to embody it, deeply, from the inside out!
Phase 1 of this comprehensive practitioner training focuses on supporting and empowering YOU to personally deepen your own self-awareness, healing, growth and depth of embodiment.
These first three months of online learning, practice, and deep, embodied change-work will bring you new levels of embodied awareness, integration, ease, and natural joy. AND, it will prepare you to start to work with others from a new level of self-embodiment, 'expert intuition', and authentic confidence.
For our first 5-day intensive, we'll most likely be in a retreat center in The Netherlands, Germany, or France—as about half of our participants will come from these areas, and most others from North America. We had a place already lined up, but we're going to need a bigger place next year, so we're looking now.
(Note: Due to COVID-19, this year we actually did this 1st training online as well, as an online intensive. It worked surprisingly well. Obviously we WILL do this live if at all possible, but online IS an option as well, if necessary.)
Here, we'll have ample time to dive deep together into the embodiment of the postures and movements, to support you in becoming deeply comfortable & confident both embodying them, and to learn & practice teaching them to others.
Deepening your connection to your own body-mind-awareness and enhancing your capacity to connect and collaborate with others will be a key focus, during our first time together as a group in person.
You'll also learn here more detail in how to analyze other people's assessment-profiles and how to facilitate UZAZU's main embodied change facilitation protocols —so you can go back home with the confidence to start using UZAZU more fully with clients and build your experience and trust in the process.
Building on our 1st live training, in this period you'll start working regularly with clients, reporting back to the group, while continually deepening and broadening your skills.
You'll discover more detail and nuance to reading the assessment. Working with peers from the group and your own "test clients," you'll learn how to have more potent follow-up conversations related to the UZAZU assessment. We'll also focus more on how to effectively sequence a session using UZAZU's three general phases of: Diagnosing & Understanding; De-stressing and Re-patterning; and Integrating & Applying. You'll also lean into how to use UZAZU to help clients work through trauma, as well as identifying and re-balancing developmental handicaps and more complex ecologies of imbalances and coping mechanisms.
For our second retreat, we'll be at a wonderful retreat center, situated right on the beach, in Saco Maine, USA, which is just 25 minutes south of Portland, Maine.
During this second meeting, we'll introduce the Eight Core Emotions and how to work with clients to effectively heal and re-pattern past wounds and "unfinished business" around each emotion. You'll also learn to hold and work with each core emotion in its transpersonal form, identifying the core, sacred purpose of each emotion—both "positive" and "negative"—and learn how to help it complete what it set out to do in the first place. This deeply embodied process is DEEPLY healing and re-energizing for people.
We'll also take ample time to identify and fill in any gaps you may still have in your understanding and new, UZAZU-based facilitation skill-set. You'll grow your skill in utilizing all the core embodiment patterns and protocols to facilitate deep change. We'll bring in "test subjects" from the local community as well for you to work with—observing each other 'in action', giving & receiving helpful feedback.
We'll focus as well on "making it your own"—supporting you to integrate your new UZAZU skills with your pre-existing knowledge and skills—so you can even more deeply own & integrate these patterns and processes into your work with clients.
Having gained experience, skill, and confidence in facilitating each of the specific state-shift practices and re-patterning protocols, etc, it's now time to hold space for the larger arc and journey of working with clients. How to sequence the re-patterning process over the course of weeks and months. How to work progressively with a client on complex, multi-layered issues. In this final phase, much of the focus will be on applying what you've learned to your client sessions, reporting back, and getting useful feedback & support, as you organically deepen your skill.
We'll broaden the scope here too, and explore how you can use UZAZU embodiment practices to support deeper awareness and growth in a variety of other applications (including couples, groups and spiritual practice.) Each participant will also take on a small project of picking a topic, issue, and/or specific population, that's highly relevant and interesting to them personally, and work on how they can use UZAZU to serve them.

Working with Dylan has helped me to feel empowered and clear, even in the midst of a lot of chaos—and that feeling has stayed! I’ve waited my whole life to find UZAZU…and for it to find me. It’s the first modality I’ve found that directly integrates simple, intuitive body-based practices with cognitive processing and mindfulness/awareness practice to shift and transform energy and thought patterns that have remained deeply lodged in my system, despite my best efforts and intentions to move through them. My deep-seated sense of trauma-based “urgency” has all-but evaporated. I’m just not triggered by “stuff” the way I used to be, and when I am, I have a way of working with it that’s immediate and effective. And I feel more engaged with my purpose than ever before. UZAZU is “the whole enchilada.”
If your question isn't answered here below, please email Dylan directly at [email protected] and ask your question!
Yes, you do. This certification training has as a prerequisite that you've already completed the Foundations Professional Training, in some form—either a live or online 3-day Foundations Training, or the pre-recorded Foundations Professional Online Course, which will be launched in August 2020. In other words, everyone entering this intermediate-level training journey must already be familiar with the basic core elements of UZAZU.
It also requires that you're already comfortable and experienced in working 1-1 with people, as either a coach, therapist or other helping professional. Massage and other touch-based practitioners can be a fit as well, if you've already comfortable also talking with clients about issues they are experiencing. Prior experience working directly/explicitly with emotional trauma is not required.
Yes! As the Foundations Training is anyway a pre-requisite for this certification training, this first training—and then using it some on/for/with yourself as well as also using it some with others/clients—this experience should help you clarify, in a grounded way, if this modality & training is a good fit for you right now to go deeper with.
Also—keep in mind that there's a 30-day full refund policy for anyone who fully completes at least the first two weeks/modules of content and then discovers it's not a good fit for them at this time.
Please scroll up to the section where we describe in detail each phase of the training, for full details on this. The first 5-day intensive will be in Western Europe The exact location is still to be finalized. The second will be close to where I live—in Portland Maine, USA. It is required to be present at both retreats.
The cost of the retreats is included in the total price, your food & lodging costs are not. We will provide you with a range of low to mid-priced lodging options at each retreat center.
The small group sessions are mandatory—but each pod group can work to find times that work for them. The live every-other-week whole group calls are highly recommended but not mandatory, if you simply can't make it. They will each be recorded and available the next day in our online course area, and the interaction and follow-up exercises with the replay, as well as the learning quiz at the end of each module will be required. (People come to really appreciate the regular learning quizzes, as they are a great way to ensure you didn't miss anything important that was covered.)
The two live retreats are a must. Having the time together to dive deep into the material, and to really support your ability to deeply embody it, is essential to becoming certified as an UZAZU Practitioner.
See the Requirements & Time Commitments section above on this page for more details about what's required of you during the course. To become certified at the end of the process, you'll need to have completed all those steps. At the end of each main module, there will also be a short quiz that will help you check that you're clear on all the main concepts and skills of that section. Near the very end, you'll be asked to submit a video of yourself facilitating an entire UZAZU-based session, together with your own reflection and self-assessment on it. You'll also be asked to give a short presentation to the group about your own 'UZAZU-application mini-project'.
This UZAZU Embodied Intelligence Practitioner Certification entitles you to use UZAZU with clients and facilitate small group coaching sessions. It entitles you to advertise yourself as an UZAZU Certified Practitioner, and provides you with a modest amount of marketing materials, should you desire them. It does NOT entitle you to teach or train groups in using UZAZU. That will be the focus of a next-level certification training.
Also—When bringing UZAZU to your licensed profession, we naturally expect that you practice within the scope of your license. In other words, we are not responsible for you determining what’s appropriate to your profession if you are using UZAZU as a PT, OT, Psychotherapist, etc.
UZAZU Embodied Intelligence is always growing and evolving as a model and method. In order to retain your status as a currently certified practitioner, and to be able advertise yourself as such (and be listed and linked to on the UZAZU website) it will be required that every two years you take a relatively low-cost update mini-training (which includes your next 2-year membership fee), and/or come to a live workshop. And this information flow is NOT just one way—UZAZU is constantly being informed and growing by those that are using and contributing to it. Staying an active member of the UZAZU Practitioner Community affords you the opportunity to keep co-creatively evolving, professionally & personally, with a loving, inspiring community of your peers. More precise details about certification renewal will be shared early on in the training.
